Trestle’s Chellore Knudtson Provides Governing Document Amendment Guidance in WSCAI’s Journal
Trestle Community Management today announced that an article written by Chellore Knudtson, CMCA, AMS, Senior Community Manager with Trestle’s Mid-Rise, High-Rise and Estate Practice, was published in Community Association Institute’s Washington State Chapter’s (WSCAI) June journal.
Together with Terry Leahy, CCAL of Leahy Legal Consulting, PLLC and Ken Harer, CCAL of Condominium Law Group, PLLC, Chellore wrote, “Successful Approaches to Governing Document Changes.” Supporting the Mid-Rise, High-Rise and Estate Practice and with more than 8 years’ experience in the community association management industry, Chellore understands which governing document changes can make the biggest impact within a community and how to work with industry attorneys to implement those changes.
“Aging documents do not take into account current obstacles that associations encounter,” Chellore said. “By amending documents to meet current situations, the association’s liabilities will be lowered by shifting responsibilities to owners for things such as the master insurance policy deductible, maintenance responsibilities, and clarification of verbiage, thus ultimately saving owners money by reducing increased assessments to accommodate these items.”
The article is aimed at answering the most common questions about governing document changes. Explaining why changes can be beneficial to a community, what language in an association’s governing documents warrant review and change, and how a community can engage with Homeowners and encourage their involvement, Chellore, Terry and Ken’s piece provides valuable insight for communities considering large and small governing document revisions. Detailed to include specific considerations, the article provides clear guidance Board Members can follow for the benefit of their communities. The journal as well as Chellore, Terry and Ken’s full article can be found here at any time.
